Emetophobia Hypnotherapy in London – Finding the Best Treatment for You

young couple sharing food after successful hypnotherapy for emetophobiaIF YOU’RE CONSIDERING HYPNOTHERAPY FOR EMETOPHOBIA you’ve probably already tried other types of emetophobia treatment and therapy. If so, you may have found that the ‘techniques’ they give you to ‘cope’ just don’t work.

Here at the Phobiaman Clinic, we don’t believe coping techniques are the answer. If you need a coping technique the phobia is still there. So instead, we like to change the unconscious patterns that formed your phobia in the first place.

Welcome to the PHOBIAMAN Clinic – Harley Street’s Leading Emetophobia Hypnotherapy Treatment Centre

Paul Mckenna Hypnotherapy for Emetophobia Phobiaman Testimonial - Alex is a very good therapist"

My name is Alex and I’m the Treatment Director here at The Phobiaman Clinic. I’m a veteran member of Paul Mckenna’s team of training assistants and I’m a phobia treatment specialist.

I’ve been working in this field for over 20 years now. Together, with my team, we have developed the most effective emetophobia treatment programme available anywhere today.

Most therapists, and that includes hypnotherapists, do not specialise in phobia treatment. This means they don’t have anywhere near the same level of experience as we do when it comes to phobias.

With simple phobias that’s not necessarily such a big deal. Most phobias, such as fear of heights or spiders, are more easily treated and typically respond well to standard interventions. However, for more complex phobias – like emetophobia – working with a specialist really matters.

Emetophobia is more complicated in nature and it rarely responds to the standard phobia interventions that general clinics and therapists rely on.

If you would like to find out if our treatment program is going to be right for you, the first step is to call the PHOBIAMAN clinic on 0207 193 5194. Call and speak with one of our friendly therapists and we’ll see if we can help. Just call 0207 193 5194 and speak with a specialist today

What is Emetophobia?

Emetophobia is a social phobia that manifests as an extreme fear of vomiting or seeing others vomit.

It produces an immediate anxiety response to sick or vomiting that goes way beyond discomfort. It dominates your whole life, shaping decisions about where to go, what to eat, and even who to spend time with.

Like most anxiety disorders, it affects more women than men, and the impact can be profound. A fear of feeling sick interferes with all social interactions, including work, romantic relationships, friendships and family life.

Triggers and Symptoms of Emetophobia

Emetophobia is a specific phobia that can be triggered by a range of things:

  • Another family member with the same sick fear
  • The sight or smell of vomit
  • People drinking alcohol
  • Environments where a stranger might become sick, e.g. public transport.
  • Traumatic events
  • people coughing
  • Losing control with no escape routes
  • Overhearing talk of food poisoning or a sickness bug

Symptoms are as varied as the people with experiencing them. They include:

  • Panic attacks
  • Racing heart
  • Sweating
  • Nausea (ironically)
  • Other physical symptoms of anxiety.

In severe cases, the fear can reach excessive levels, leading to social withdrawal, depression, avoidance behaviours and a constant state of feeling anxious.

Negative associations with specific places, foods, or situations can make daily life feel like a minefield, and the vicious circle of avoidance and anxiety is difficult to break without professional support.

How can Hypnotherapy for Emetophobia Help?

Emetophobia is a deep-rooted fear of vomit – an extreme fear that can feel impossible to overcome.

But breaking this cycle of fear and avoidance is not only possible, it’s easier than you might think with the right support. It just requires the right attitude and making this treatment the most important thing in your life for just a few weeks.

Our unique approach works with both the conscious and the subconscious mind, where the fears, beliefs and anything else that triggers emetophobia reside.

By working at each of these levels, we can help you begin to change your automatic fear of feeling sick and reduce the associated anxiety.

Morning Sickness and Emetophobia

For women with emetophobia, morning sickness can be terrifying. The very idea of going through pregnancy with a vomit phobia can be so intense that it even leads some women to delay or avoid starting a family altogether.

At the Phobiaman Clinic, our approach offers a lifeline. We don’t just use deep relaxation techniques and positive suggestions to help you cope. We change this pattern of the fear and physical sensations of anxiety itself.

Overcoming Panic Attacks and Emetophobia

Panic attacks are a common and distressing symptom for people with a fear of vomit. These sudden episodes of intense fear can feel overwhelming, and worrying about them can often bring them on.

Most therapists try and address this by teaching you coping techniques.

By addressing the underlying causes of your panic attacks, we help you reduce both the frequency and severity of these episodes, so you no longer have to worry about them at all. With time and the right treatment, you can move beyond panic and reclaim your life from emetophobia.

If you would like to find out if our treatment program is going to be right for you, the first step is to call the PHOBIAMAN clinic on 0207 193 5194. Call and speak with one of our friendly therapists and we’ll see if we can help. Just call 0207 193 5194 and speak with a specialist today

Is Hypnotherapy for Emetophobia really a Cure?

If you’ve ever tried to change an unconscious behaviour you’ll know how difficult this can be.

Hypnotherapy for emetophobia makes changing this unconscious behaviour easier because it by-passes the conscious mind, and this is why it’s so effective.

The unconscious mind has generated the behaviour of emetophobia because it believes (wrongly) that there is a threat to you. It’s not doing it to create a problem for you. It’s doing it to protect you.

A 2025 study in Prague (by Peléšková, Landová et al., 2025) found that where the disgust response is insufficient to protect a person from the threat of pathogens, a fear response will develop to protect the person instead.

Emetophobia Hypnotherapy gently works with the unconscious to help it realise that there is no threat, and therefore a different behaviour would be more effective. We validate the fear response and ask the unconscious to only use fear when its appropriate – but not around the things that usually trigger the emetophobia.

Understanding Emetophobia – The Fear of Vomiting

Emetophobia affects people who have it more than most other phobias do. So it’s more important than ever that it’s treated effectively.

This is simply because the objects of other phobias are more easily avoided. For example, someone with a fear of flying can just avoid flying.

Friends having drinks after receiving hypnotherapy for emetophobia

But if you have emetophobia, the list of things you have to avoid is far longer, and often includes flying. But it’s not the flying itself that terrifies you, is it? It’s the thought of people being sick. The ‘what ifs’? And that can happen in many more places and contexts than just flying.

In fact, if you have emetophobia, almost any environment outside your home can seem terrifying to you. This might include boats, trains and buses.

Car journeys are a common trigger too, especially when access to a toilet is limited, which can heighten anxiety about feeling sick.

And it’s not just transport, either. The list is massive: hospitals, doctors’ surgeries, pubs, nightclubs, parties, schools – or anywhere there might be children, in fact. Public toilets are also often avoided due to fears of vomiting and exposure to germs. It even stops some people having a family.

The list just goes on and on. And that’s just worrying about other people.

When it comes to you it’s a whole different level. What if you eat something? Well you can forget dinner parties, restaurants, weddings and other formal events. Many people with emetophobia worry about catching germs or food poisoning, leading them to avoid certain foods and places to prevent feeling sick.

You might be affected by only some of these things, but it’s still a far longer list of things to avoid than most people with a phobia have to worry about.

The fear of feeling sick can make you feel anxious in many situations, creating a cycle of worry and avoidance. Emetophobia can severely impact your social life and overall lives, restricting daily functioning, personal freedom, and opportunities for connection.

But there is good news too:smiling man cuddling toddler with toddler's hand on his mouth after hypnotherapy for emetophobia

The good news is that people are more likely to seek treatment for emetophobia for the same reason.

With any phobia, people only seek treatment for one of 2 reasons: either the fear is getting worse, or something has changed that means they can no longer avoid the thing that terrifies them.

If you would like to find out if our treatment program is going to be right for you, the first step is to call the PHOBIAMAN clinic on 0207 193 5194. Call and speak with one of our friendly therapists and we’ll see if we can help. Just call 0207 193 5194 and speak with a specialist today

Loneliness and Emetophobia Hypnotherapy

People with emetophobia can suffer from profound feelings of loneliness as well as their fear, more so those with other anxiety disorders. An emetophobic person often faces daily challenges, including avoiding certain foods, places, or social situations due to the intense fear of vomiting. You can feel like you are the only person in the world with emetophobia, but this is far from the case.

In the last 20 years thousands of people have come to our clinic for hypnotherapy for emetophobia treatment. In 2023, just after the lockdowns ended, people with emetophobia accounted for over 50% of our patients.

Emetophobia is more common than you think. Many people suffer from the emotional and physical effects of emetophobia. Celebrities with emetophobia include the actresses, Cameron Diaz, Kate Beckinsale and Denise Richards. They have all spoken about their struggles with emetophobia. And James Dean, the actor, reportedly suffered from the condition too.

Emetophobia Hypnotherapy for Children

At the Phobiaman Clinic, 24% of the patients we treat for emetophobia are children. Emetophobia can impact a sufferer’s life from a young age, affecting their confidence, school attendance, and social development.

The Child Mind Institute states that it is especially important that children with emetophobia are treated as early as possible. This is because the high levels of excaused by emetophobia can interrupt  areas of childhood development, such as academic and social. It can also lead to other obsessive behaviours.

Children must be accompanied by a parent throughout the treatment.

Is Hypnosis the Best Therapy for Emetophobia?

Emetophobia – like all phobias – is a pattern where you experience something that is NOT a threat as if it were a life threatening event. For any therapy to work this pattern must be changed.

Attractive woman offering a fork of her food to male companion across a restaurant table after successful hypnotherapy for emetophobia

At The Phobiaman Clinic we have developed specialised methods that work with the part of your subconscious mind that generates this pattern. Our methods are completely unique and they are based on Eriksonian Hypnotherapy, NLP and Timeframing Therapy.

But the most important important ingredient of all is our decades of experience.

During the hypnotherapy sessions, the patient enters a deep trance-like relaxed state. It is within this state that your unconscious begins to change this pattern using the new patterns we have set up during the earlier stages of treatment.

Hypnotherapy also helps reduce general anxiety and improve self esteem, supporting emotional well-being and confidence generally. Many people not only overcome their fears through our approach, they also experience other positive changes in other areas leading to rapid and meaningful improvements in mental health.

Welcome to The Best Fear of Flying Course in London – Stop The Panic and Feeling Trapped!

UK Fear of flying Course - Aeroplane first class seat with delicious fresh salad and white wine on tableIF YOU’RE AFRAID TO FLY this probably isn’t the first time you’ve looked around for a fear of flying course. So if you’ve tried other courses and been disappointed you might be wondering what makes us different?

It’s a good question, and the answer is simple: our UK fear of flying course was created by therapists, not pilots. And NOT an airline.

Our afraid of flying courses were developed by therapists here at The Phobiaman Clinic in Harley Street. The Phobiaman Clinic is Harley Street’s leading Phobia Treatment Centre. In fact, we are the UK’s leading specialist Phobia Treatment Clinic, and we understand how to treat a fear of flying better than anyone.

We achieved this status because 20 years ago we decided to specialise in treating phobias, and nothing else. And that’s rarer than you might think. Most people treating phobias are not specialists.

Welcome to the PHOBIAMAN Clinic… and the Best Fear of Flying Courses in the UK.

Paul Mckenna Fear of Flying Course Phobiaman Testimonial - Alex is a very good therapist

I’m Alex, veteran member of Paul Mckenna’s Training Team and Treatment Director here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic.

I am a clinical specialist in the treatment of fear of flying with Eriksonian hypnosis and NLP. Over the last 20 years I have put together a team of some of the best phobia hypnotherapists anywhere.

Together, we have developed our programme for fear of flying, which we use here in the clinic. And we refined these methods over tens of thousands of clinical hours spent working with people with phobias, just like you. This has led to our world-wide reputation for excellence.

What makes our programme so unique? It’s unique because it’s been designed to remove the fear without you having to face it, and that means no nasty exposure therapy. Our Fear of Flying Course uses exactly the same tried and tested methods we use in the Clinic.

We are professional, full-time phobia therapists and we may be able to help you overcome your fear in just two days if you’ll only allow us to. That may sound like a wild claim right now, but when you stop to consider that we have already helped over 15000 other people, hopefully it begins to sound a bit more real. And in the clinic we achieve this outcome in half that time with most patients.

Comparison: Fear of Flying Course with Flight vs Fear of Flying Treatment in Harley Street.

We created our fear of flying courses for patients who wanted the best treatment available, but didn’t have time to attend multiple hypnotherapy for fear of flying appointments at the clinic during the working week.

Our UK fear of flying courses are run over a single weekend, and they allow you to experience the same outstanding treatment you would get in Harley Street. Most patients in Harley Street get about 8 hours of treatment. So you get almost double this on the Fear of Flying Course.

fear of flying course private jet on runwayAnother benefit of the Fear of Flying Course is the experience flight on the last day. With the same premium level of service our patients have come to expect, our experience flight is on a Luxury Private Jet. And yes, there is champagne to celebrate, for those who like it. And yes, you can take photographs!

As our courses are small we can ensure each participant receives the attention they need.

Fear of Flying Course London – Real Results

Others measure their success by how many people take a flight at the end of the course or treatment. But thousands of people fly every day despite having a fear of flying because they have to. So this doesn’t mean the phobia has gone.

Happy couple on beach with child after successful fear of flying course

We only consider ourselves successful when your fear has gone completely and you have the confidence to do what someone without a phobia would normally be able to do without experiencing a fear reaction.*

And even with these higher benchmarks, our success rates are better than the airline courses, as well as other clinics and therapists, because we specialise in phobia treatment and we have a unique understanding of fear of flying and an outstanding programme delivered by some of the best phobia therapists in the world.

Our Afraid of Flying Courses are NOT About Logic

People who have never had a phobia say you are far more likely to die on the way to the airport than you are by flying. That’s true, but it doesn’t help, does it?

At the PHOBIAMAN Clinic, we know that this sort of logic won’t conquer the anxiety and stress of a flying phobia. And the fact that pilots and cabin crew sometimes develop a fear of flying is proof it has nothing to do with safety or logic or knowing how aeroplanes fly.

It is also proof that there is nothing wrong with you if you do have a flying phobia. It’s just the way the brain works.

Pilots are as human as the rest of us and sometimes develop anxieties and fear of flying even after thousands of perfect flights.  And when they do they come to The PHOBIAMAN Clinic for treatment, and there is no better recommendation than that.

Fear of Flying Courses Near Me

People come from all over the UK for our London Fear of Flying Courses. And with our world-wide reputation, some people even come from overseas.

The courses are held at a 4 star hotel just off the M25, with ample parking and a railway station less than a mile away.

As international travel recovers, we are planning to roll-out our fear of flying courses across the UK and even to other parts of the world:

  • March 2023 – Fear of Flying Course Manchester
  • April 2023 – Fear of Flying Course Birmingham
  • March 2024 Fear of Flying Course Monaco (Nice) Europe
  • May 2024 Fear of flying Course Dubai Middle East

Why Do People Choose Our Fear of Flying Courses?

What We Never Do…

1. No Long Physics Lectures

We all know logically that flying is safe. But the fear has nothing to do with flight safety or logic or understanding because it comes from a completely different part of the brain.

So we don’t force you to sit among hundreds of other fearful fliers for a whole day, getting more and more nervous while you listen to a pilot talking about aircraft and aviation safety statistics, how a commercial passenger jet is the safest form of transport, and
how aeroplanes fly.

The reason we don’t do this is because it doesn’t work. And we think asking a pilot to cure a fear of flying is as silly as asking a therapist to fly an aeroplane, (and the pilots we’ve spoken to agree with us). Overcoming fear of flying is about the brain, not the plane.

2. No “Facing Your Fear to Beat the Fear”

If you’ve ever been on an airline fear of flying course you’ll know that most of the people on the flight at the end are still terrified, some people are close to a panic attack. They haven’t overcome their fear of flying at all, even after a whole day (sometimes two days!) of learning about flying.

They are “Facing their Fears” in order to conquer them. Some of them are in tears they are so frightened. You can see it in the promotional videos on the airline websites.

These brave people have our full respect but this is the old psychological model of how to overcome fear – “Feel the fear and do it anyway”. It’s called exposure therapy, or systematic desensitization, and it isn’t very nice.

There is no face your fear to beat the fear aspect to our treatment. We invest the time needed with you and we only use the very best positive psychological techniques to remove your fear without you having to face it.*

What Makes Us Different?

3. We are Phobia Treatment Specialists

It’s important to make sure you are putting your trust in a specialist phobia clinic for your phobia treatment. Luckily, here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic we specialise in treating phobias, so we understand what it’s like to have a real fear.

And we know that fear of flying is often underpinned by other fears like claustrophobia or fear of heights. This means a fear of flying won’t always respond to the out-of-the-box phobia methods and relaxation techniques that the airline courses and non-specialist clinics rely on.

If you want to check if a clinic or therapist GENUINELY specialises in phobia treatment, just have a quick look at their websites. If they offer treatments to stop smoking or weight loss or coaching or anything else then they do NOT specialise in phobias. And if they don’t specialise they are less likely to have the experience or expertise necessary to treat your phobia.

4. World Class NLP and Hypnosis

Not only are we phobia specialists, we are also world-class experts in Eriksonian Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). We don’t say this lightly, either.

As veteran members of Paul Mckenna’s training team, we help Paul and Dr Richard Bandler (the man who thought it all up) to deliver the largest NLP trainings in the world. Some of us have spent more than 10 years helping to deliver these trainings to tens of thousands of other hypnotherapists. That’s over 80 seminars, working alongside Paul Mckenna and Richard Bandler. There is no team with more experience anywhere, and all this means we deliver the most powerful and thorough fear of flying hypnotherapy treatment programme anywhere.

5. You’re in Control

Our whole programme is designed to collapse your fear at a neurological level and ONLY THEN do you get to test the new you, when you say you’re ready. You are in control throughout.*

6. We Are the First Choice of Pilots and Cabin Crew

fear of flying course - pilot standing with hand lugguage looking at sunset with plane taking off to the rightWhen livelihoods and careers depend upon results, professional pilots and cabin crew come to us.

They turn to The PHOBIAMAN Clinic because they know we are as thorough about looking after our clients and collapsing phobias as they are about flying aircraft and taking care of their passengers. We take it extremely seriously.*

7. We Know More About How to Treat Flying Phobias Than Anyone Else

Having worked with over 9000 people with phobias of all kinds, we understand better than anyone ALL the different components that can make up a flying phobia: (take-off, landing, fear of heights, falling out of the sky, fear of being sick (emetophobia),  Loss of Control, Structural Integrity of the Aeroplane, Engine Failure, Crew Competence, Weather Conditions, Turbulence, Terrorism, Claustrophobia, Panic Attacks, Mental Images, etc.). You name it, we’ve treated it, and we know how to collapse each one thoroughly.*

8. Our Methods Work Where Others Fail

“I’ve tried everything and you’re my last hope!” – We used to hear that a lot.

We don’t hear it so much now, thankfully, because people come straight to us. But if you have tried other therapists or airline industry courses, don’t worry. You deserve a fear-free life and we’re confident we can help.*

Just call our friendly team on 0207 193 5194 and they will answer your questions and explain what may be possible for you. If you are calling from outside the UK the international number is +44 207 193 5194.

You can also contact us using the form on this page and one of us will get back to you straight away.

hypnotherapy for public speaking - profile of pretty young woman holding microphone and speaking to audienceIF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR HYPNOTHERAPY FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING you probably already know that preparation is NOT the key to making the fear go away.

That may work for people who are just nervous. but it won’t work for someone who experiences intense feelings of fear, panic and anxiety just by thinking about it. What they need is a phobia specialist.

Welcome to The Phobiaman Clinic – Harley Street’s Leading Hypnotherapy for Public Speaking Specialists

I’m Alex, veteran member of Paul Mckenna‘s Training Team and Treatment Director at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic in Harley Street, London. Over the last 16 years I have put together a team of the best phobia treatment specialists anywhere.

Paul Mckenna Hypnotherapy for Public Speaking Testimonial - "Alex is a very good therapist. I have seen the results of his work for over a decade.

Together, we have developed a unique hypnotherapy for public speaking programme for treating severe public speaking anxiety. It’s unique because it’s been designed to remove the fear without you having to face it.

We are professional, full time therapists and, together with our specialised fear of public speaking treatment, we may be able to help you overcome the fear in just a few sessions.

That may sound like a wild claim right now, but when you stop to consider that our therapy has already helped over 12,000 others*, hopefully it begins to sound a bit more real.

Luckily, here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic we specialise in treating Phobias, so we understand what it’s like to have a real fear.

And we know that public speaking, despite being one of the most common fears, is NOT necessarily a learned behaviour like other phobias.

This means it won’t always respond to the standard methods that non-specialist clinics rely upon, like relaxation techniques.

fear of public speaking hypnotherapy - woman applauding

Being phobia specialists means we get to work with more phobias than if we tried to treat everything. This has allowed us to notice patterns and to develop our own methods based on what we have found to work for the thousands of other people we have already treated just like you. This is one reason why our success rates are higher. And our training and experience help too.

World-class NLP and Hypnotherapy for Public Speaking

Not only are we phobia specialists, we are also world-class experts in Eriksonian Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). We don’t say this lightly, either.

There is no team with more experience anywhere, and all this means we deliver the most powerful and thorough fear of public speaking hypnosis therapy available today.

Public speaking involves skill and planning, but they are skills you can only learn once the fear has gone. And we can help you here too.

As members of Paul’s training team we know how to deliver to an audience. More importantly, we can teach you how to do the same. And we can give you the tools you need to be successful, whether it be a sales or business meeting or presentation, a formal speech, a wedding speech, or delivering a lecture or training.

In short, we can help you get rid of the fear* and then teach you the skills you need to deliver a memorable and brilliant presentation to an audience of any size with confidence. Perhaps, even one that’s remembered for years to come.

Do you Provide Hypnosis for Public Speaking Near Me?

People come from all over the UK for treatment at the Phobiaman Clinic in London. For patients who need to travel further we offer double treatment appointments to reduce the number of times they have to travel to the Capital.

Hypnotherapy for Public Speaking London

Our Public Speaking Hypnotherapy group in London is a group event that we offer twice a year. This is a 2-day public speaking course, where we cover everything we do in the clinic on a group basis. It gives people the chance to practise in front of others in a completely safe and understanding environment.

We encourage our patients who have completed their treatment in the clinic to attend as a refresher.

It is also available to people who have not attended the clinic as a patient; provided we are satisfied that they don’t need the individual attention that we can only provide in the clinic. This makes our treatment much more accessible for people outside London who would like to benefit from treatment excellence that can only be found in Harley Street, without having to travel for multiple appointments.

Does Public Speaking Hypnotherapy Work?

When someone experiences any fear or panic where there is NO real threat to their life, then the fear is unjustified neurologically. It is an erroneous pattern that their brain has developed in the mistaken belief that their life is in danger. Using hypnosis, a skilled phobia specialist can help your unconscious correct the pattern and the fear will usually reduce rapidly.

It works simply because your unconscious doesn’t want to waste resources feeling frightened unnecessarily. So the short answer is, yes, absolutely, hypnosis for fear of public speaking is highly effective.

If you would like to find out if our treatment is going to be right for you, the first step is to call the PHOBIAMAN clinic on 0207 193 5194. Call and speak with one of our friendly therapists and we’ll see if we can help. Just call 0207 193 5194 and speak with a specialist today.

Hypnotherapy for Fear of Heights – Stop The Panic and Feeling Exposed

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR HYPNOTHERAPY FOR FEAR OF HEIGHTS, you’ve probably already tried facing the fear and discovered it’s NOT a very effective form of treatment.

It may work if you’re just nervous, but it won’t work for someone who experiences intense anxiety and fear just by thinking about being too high or exposed. What they need is a phobia specialist.

Welcome to the PHOBIAMAN Clinic – Harley Street’s Leading Fear of Heights Hypnotherapy Clinic

paul mckenna hypnotherapy for fear of heights testimonial - "Alex is a very good therapist. I have seen the results of his work for over a decade..."

I’m Alex, veteran member of Paul Mckenna’s Training Team and Treatment Director here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic. Over the last 20 years I have put together a team of some of the best phobia therapists anywhere.

Together, we have developed a unique programme of  hypnotherapy for fear of heights. It’s unique because it’s been designed to help you overcome acrophobia – the name for anxiety or fear of heights – without you having to face it.

We are professional, full time phobia therapists and, with our specialist fear of heights therapy, we may be able to help you in just a few sessions. That may sound like a wild claim but when you stop to consider that our treatment has already helped over 9000 others*, hopefully it begins to sound a bit more real.

Specialists in Hypnotherapy for Fear of Heights

Here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic we specialise in treating fears and phobias with hypnosis. This means we get to work with more of them than we would if we tried to treat everything. So being specialists means we understand them better because we have more experience in treating them.

This focus has allowed us to notice patterns and to develop our own methods – methods you will find nowhere else – based on what we have found to work for the thousands of other people we have treated just like you.

hypnotherapy for Fear of heights - friends enjoy view from balcony

For example, we know fear of heights is NOT ‘learned’ like other phobias, despite being one of the most common.

This means it won’t usually respond to the out-of-the-box phobia treatments and ‘techniques’ that other clinics and therapists rely upon.

They don’t understand that you can’t use the same process they use for, say, hypnotherapy for public speaking to treat a fear of heights.

This is because fear of heights has a different structure to other phobias. If you are afraid of heights you are NOT suffering from a mental health issue. There is nothing wrong with you. You are probably a self-starter – people who have a phobia of heights usually are.

In fact, this higher-than-usual motivation leads directly to the fear you feel when you are near a height or a drop. Or, in other words, when you feel too exposed.

Most therapists don’t understand this and they waste time trying to ‘fix’ something that isn’t broken.  This approach obviously won’t work.

However, once you understand what is driving the panic and anxiety response, it’s much easier to help someone change it.

This is one of the reasons why the results and success rates of our fear of heights hypnotherapy programme are better than those of other clinics and therapists. And our training and experience help too.

World Class NLP and Clinical Hypnotherapy for Fear of Heights

There is no team with more experience anywhere, and all this means we deliver the most powerful and thorough phobia treatment programme available today.

So even if you have tried other therapists or clinics, don’t worry – we still may be able help. But our treatment is no miracle cure. It requires a commitment to the programme over just a few sessions, and a willingness to follow instructions.

If that sounds like the sort of thing you can commit to, and you would like to find out if our treatment is going to be right for you, the first step is to call The PHOBIAMAN Clinic and speak with one of our friendly therapists. Just call 0207 193 5194 and speak with a specialist today.

Hypnotherapy for fear of flying - Aeroplane first class seat with delicious fresh salad and white wine on tableIF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR HYPNOTHERAPY FOR FEAR OF FLYING you probably already know that ‘facing the fear’ just doesn’t work.

Thousands of people fly on business trips several times a month despite having a flying phobia because they have to, and yet the fear remains.

And learning how aeroplanes fly won’t help you overcome fear, either. It may do the trick for people who are slightly nervous. But it won’t help you if you experience intense fear or panic attacks when you think about flying.

If you’ve wasted thousands of pounds on flights that you then refused to board, or ruined the last days of a holiday with flying anxiety and dreading the flight home, you don’t need a physics lesson.

What you need is a phobia specialist…

Welcome to The PHOBIAMAN Clinic – Harley Street’s Leading  Fear of Flying Hypnotherapy Specialists

My name is Alex and I’m a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Director here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic. I am also a veteran member of Paul Mckenna’s Training Team, and in the last 20 years I have put together the best team of phobia treatment specialists anywhere.

Testimonial Paul Mckenna hypnotherapy for fear of flying. "Alex is a very good therapist. I have seen the results of his work for over a decade..."

Together, we have created a unique fear of flying hypnosis programme for flying anxiety. What makes it unique?

It’s unique because it’s designed to remove your fear without you having to face it.

In fact, the programme we use here at our London hypnotherapy clinic is so effective we may be able to help you get over your fear of flying in just a few sessions.

That may sound like a wild claim right now, but when you stop to consider that we have already helped over 15,000 others*, hopefully it begins to sound a bit more real.

Hypnotherapy for Fear of Flying – Real Results

So, how does our hypnotherapy practice get results like this when so many other therapists and clinics fail? The answer is simple. Here at The PHOBIAMAN Clinic, we specialise in treating phobias. This means we understand them better than other therapists – especially therapists who try and treat everything.

Being specialists means we get to work with more phobias, and this has allowed us to notice conscious as well as unconscious patterns during our hypnosis sessions.

Phobias are NOT all the same. They are not all ‘learned behaviours’ (despite what you might read elsewhere), and this is why they don’t always respond to the common out-of-the-box therapy techniques that other clinics and therapists rely upon. They just aren’t effective in many cases.

Fortunately, therapists are NOT all the same either. We have developed our own powerful methods that we use in our hypnotherapy sessions to help thousands of patients just like you to regain control and achieve positive outcomes.

You won’t find these methods anywhere else and this is just one reason why our success rates are higher. But our training and experience help too.

Specialists in Hypnotherapy for Fear of Flying

As well as phobia specialists, we are also world-class masters of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Eriksonian Hypnosis. It’s a claim we can back up easily too.

Having spent decades on Paul Mckenna‘s training team, we’ve helped Paul and Dr Richard Bandler – the man who thought it all up – deliver thousands of hours of training. These are the largest NLP and Hypnosis training courses in the world, delivered to hundreds of thousands of people.

This means we have more experience than anyone, and we deliver the most thorough and effective fear of flying hypnotherapy programme available anywhere today. So, if you’re serious about getting over your fear of flying you’ve found the right place to begin.

Will I discover the Root Cause of my Flying Anxiety, Flying Phobia or Flying Fear?

To be honest, knowing the root cause of your irrational fear doesn’t help you overcome anxiety. There are some kinds of therapy where discovering the ‘root cause is considered the prime objective.

Here at The Phobiaman Clinic, we prefer to focus on changing the anxious thoughts – the patterns of anticipatory anxiety – in the unconscious mind. This allows you to feel calm and feel reassured instead of afraid of flying.

And it doesn’t matter what aspect of air travel makes you feel anxious, either. Whether it’s Whether it’s takeoff, severe turbulence, fear of heights, crew competence, terrorism, lack of control or enclosed spaces and feeling trapped, or just feeling the plane is going to fall out of the sky, (even though you know logically that it’s not). We’ve worked with people with all of these fears and more to make positive changes.

And because we work with both the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, there is nowhere for your flight anxiety to hide. The anxious feelings and negative thoughts will be replaced with confidence and calm.

If you would like to find out if our programme is going to be right for you, the first step is to call The PHOBIAMAN Clinic. You can speak with one of our friendly therapists and see if we can help. We often have a waiting list of several weeks so please call as soon as you can so we can make sure we can get you treated in time.

Fear of Flying Hypnotherapy Success Stories

Arnon Ho – London

I just want to say a huge thank you for helping me getting over the fear of flying. It had been a long journey and you made it so easy for me to realise, how enjoyable flying can be.

Once again many thanks.

Justine Parker – Somerset

Hi Alex
I hope my email finds you well? I just wanted to let you know that I recently managed to take 2 flights. One to Ireland (October) and Amsterdam (November). I was a bit trepidatious but managed to keep away from the bar 😬

I sat in the window, plugged into my noise reduction headphones and actually smiled as we took off….
Even with a significant amount of turbulence (Irish weather) I remained calm and in my opinion somewhat detached from the experience.

I am now planning a trip to New York, so apart from the abject boredom of a long haul flight, I’m feeling pretty ok.

Thank you 🙏
Merry Christmas Alex

Martin Church – Bedford

Morning Alex,

Long time no speak. Just to let you know since we met I have been on 5 flights and have another two booked for early September, and I am looking forward to booking some more.

Something clicked somewhere and now I see it as my preferred mode of transport.

Best wishes, Martin Church

Fear of Flying Treatment FAQ

Do you offer Hypnotherapy for Fear of Flying Near Me?

Our reputation is global and people travel from all over the world to access our treatment. So we have based ourselves in London for easy accessibility for all. The clinic is easily reachable from all London Rail Terminals.

Do you Offer Hypnotherapy for Fear of Flying for Children?

Most definately! In fact, children often respond faster to the treatment than adults. We have successfully treated children as young as 8 years old and all ages above. All children must be accompanied by a parent throughout the treatment.

I’ve had Fear of Flying Therapy before and it didn’t work. What makes you different?

Around 50% of our patients have tried other therapists before they come to us. Unfortunately, they found the results didn’t live up to the claims made by these other providers.

Without knowing who you saw it’s difficult to say why it didn’t work. But the most common reason we find is the therapist wasn’t a phobia specialist.

There are therapists who claim to specialise in phobias when they clearly don’t. A quick click around their websites usually reveals treatments for dozens of other issues like smoking, addictions, weightloss, etc. Sometimes, they even claim to specialise in those other fields too.

Here at The Phobiaman Clinic, we only treat phobias and nothing else, and this is what makes us different.

Other common reasons for a poor outcome are:

  • trying to complete the full treatment in a single session
  • trying to treat people online
  • insufficient experience

Any of these factors will reduce the likelyhood of a successful result.

Just call our team on 0207 193 5194 and we will answer your questions and explain what may be possible for you. If you are calling from outside the UK the international number is +44 207 193 5194.

Evolutionary Psychology: Spider Phobia Treatment – How to get over Fear of Spiders.

spider phobia treatment - cave painting showing 3 men hunting on horseback with spears

When compared with a phobia of spiders, many of the other common fear disorders are fairly recent. Things like flying, escalators, lifts, or needles, haven’t been around for very long. Heights weren’t something you’d have been faced with until the twentieth century, unless you count jumping over a gate. And public speaking wasn’t common for most people even three generations ago.

None of these other fears have been around for as long as the spider phobia because people just didn’t encounter them very much. The other related phobia that’s been around as long is a fear of snakes.

Phobia, fear, what ever you want to call it; when it comes to being to being frightened, there’s something about arachnophobia that’s pretty unique. Spiders were around since way before the first humans decided that being afraid when something wants you for lunch is a good idea. The fear of spiders has been around as long as we have.

Phobias – The Theory So Far.

fear of spiders treatment - female scientist working on phobia research in a white lab coat with a microscope and dna model. This fine and long pedigree has enabled scientists researching fear to challenge some previously held beliefs about phobias in general. The fear response is a subconscious reaction that favours an individual who can learn to be frightened instantly. It allows them to avoid and, if necessary, escape from dangerous situations.

But when something is perceived wrongly as being threatening a phobia develops. As far as your brain is concerned there is no difference. Better safe than sorry. If something seems frightening your nervous system wants to protect you, and the automatic fear response stays with you, ensuring your survival by avoiding the feared situation.

The behaviour is even passed on to future generations by the children observing the behaviour of older family members. In fact, among the clients who come to me for spider phobia treatments, the ones who can trace their anxiety back to a specific traumatic event are in the minority.

Most of them have inherited their phobia from someone else, and learnt to be scared indirectly.

Spider Phobia Sufferers Don’t Usually Live
In Countries With Dangerous Spiders.

All this makes perfect sense. However, in the case of arachnophobia, there is one piece of evidence that suggests that this model isn’t quite complete. And that is that sufferers of spider fear are statistically more likely to come from a country like Britain, where they are harmless, than from a hot country where venomous species like tarantulas are a reality.

In parts of the world where spiders are far more dangerous, as well as abundant, they are honoured and protected by people. In fact, the location of spider phobia sufferers has nothing to do with the location of dangerous spiders. Why might this be?

One theory is that in countries where there are no dangerous spiders, this phobia must have originated due to something else. There is evidence that in Britain, spiders were associated with the spread of disease.

This belief was formed during the population-destroying bubonic plagues. If a spider fell into a bucket of water, that water was considered unsafe to drink. This would go some way to explaining the random nature of the distribution of sufferers.

spider phobia treatment - image of destroyed house lying on it's side with the words "got the spider" written in large letters on the roof.Another explanation for these strange statistics is that phobic behaviour isn’t particularly good at keeping us safe; but it’s better than nothing. So when the ancestors of present-day Europeans migrated away from the regions where dangerous species of spiders exist, they took with them the phobic responses they had developed up to that point. And in their new environment, without being exposed to the threat, there was no need to develop any more advanced protective behaviours.

Those that continued to live in such regions, found that their uncontrolled emotional responses increased the threat of a bite from the poor bemused spider, who was faced with a scary sweating panicking human. They were forced to develop more refined and sophisticated behaviours. These less excessive reactions were more effective protection when faced with spiders that were really dangerous.

This does not mean to say that the indigenous population of these regions are comfortable around dangerous species. They have simply learned through experience that instead of having a panic attack, or freezing with fear, being calm is a more effective way to cope with the situation because it is less likely to lead to an attack.

Spider Phobia Treatment – Genetic or Learned?

Both of these theories demonstrate that phobias are a learned reaction, not a genetic one. It is simply a stimulus response association, just like the famous dogs of Pavlov. The ability to be phobic may well be genetic, but each person has to learn their phobia; either through direct experience or observation of someone else’s fear response. The good news is that the ability to overcome arachnophobia, or any phobic response, is also part of our evolutionary heritage. The chances of overcoming fear of spiders with  Spider Phobia Treatment are higher than mainstream Psychology previously thought.
